My son has blue eyes, but nowhere NEAR like these kids. Put them in some natural light and holy cow… POW! light those suckas up! The baby was a newborn when I saw her last, and I couldnt take MY eyes off her!! what a sweety.

I’m a mind reader and I know you want more of Mr. and Mrs. Scobey! I know I do!! These two… well. Not sure what I could write would even remotely do their session justice. They are cute x 1,000,000 anyway and then add to the mix Ashley’s cute little belly, and then how in love these two still are with each other! I know, they look like they are like 12, but they have been in love since they were like…12 actually! So the reality is they have been in love longer than me and Dave, who have been married almost TEN YEARS!
OK, just kidding, you all know math is not my main skill in life but you get what I’m giving!
So onwards and upwards here… let’s proceed to their images!
Well, I am just LOVING my city of Hartford- it is my new studio!! See? (look below)
Graham is one spry dude. Here he is perched like a little bird on a ledge that is like 2″ wide.
These reflections behind them are preeeety
Who is cuter than Miss Ashley??
Graham is rocking the Jack Bibbs hair
Ashley’s turn
Did I mention Graham’s high energy level?
Here is a little bird that will be in their little girl’s room… i loooove birdies!!
teeny shoes???!!!!! I almost ate them they were so cute
This is one of my favorites.
Yes, he looks like my 6 year old son…and I just wanna squeeze him!!!
As promised, here is part two from Andrew’s senior portraits. Andrew’s mom, Kathy, took advantage of Andrew’s interest in having senior photos taken and scheduled a whole family portrait session with the senior photo session. They picked a beautiful spot with Colorado red rocks for the backgrounds. We even had a little snow left from our Spring blizzard 2 days prior.
Kathy and Doug were so cute when I took their photo together.
I enjoyed spending the afternoon with you for the family and senior photos. I’m looking forward to our design consultation.
I had the pleasure of meeting Merlin, Cat, Emma and Ava in Estes Park. We were all set for a family portrait session but little Ava had other things in mind. While mom and dad tended to baby Ava I got to know Emma.
This was my favorite image. Just a little girl being a little girl.
I loved watching her play as we waited for the family photos to begin.
How fascinating a blade of grass can be….
Ava’s still fussy, gotta love it when my boss is an infant (and not just acting like one like in my corporate days, I like this life so much better) …
This image reminded me of the game ‘where’s waldo’ except it’s ‘where’s emma’.
Stay tuned for the family photos section of the session but only when Ava decides it is time
I have been wanting to blog about the Heart Gallery since last year! No excuses, here's it is...
I was watching Channel 8 News on a Wednesday afternoon and saw Ted Kopy's segment on Wednesday's Child. This is a weekly feature which spotlights a child in need of an adoptive family. They interview a child and interact with them to give viewers and idea of their personality and their needs. This particular Wednesday they were showcasing an organization called the Heart Gallery, which is run by the Department of Children and Family services. The Heart Gallery features photos of Connecticut’s Children who need adoptive families.
Here's a quick excerpt from their website:
The Heart Gallery is a photo art display featuring remarkable children and youth in state care who need an adoptive family. Volunteer professional photographers give their time and talent in capturing each child's and youth's personality in a photograph portrait.
The Department works with each child and youth in preparing for the Heart Gallery. If they agree to be featured, the children are connected with a volunteer professional photographer for a photo session. These photos are assembled into a traveling photo exhibit that moves throughout the year. It travels across Connecticut in bringing these inspiring photograph portraits to theaters, children's museums, galleries, local hospitals, area malls, libraries, town halls, and other public exhibit space and gathering places. Heart Gallery organizers hope that when you see their faces you will feel their spirit and fulfill their dreams.
Today I received an invitation for their next Heart Gallery event and wanted to pass it on to you.

When I heard one of my most favorite clients were going to have another baby.. I cant tell you how happy I was for them!! I couldnt wait to meet the new little guy. During session I found that he is going to have to have some surgery to correct a hole in his heart.. a few days later - while at a dr. appt. they had to admit him early as he wasnt gaining weight..
Grow little guy - we want you to be healthy. We are rooting for you. xoxoxox.
Here is a quick pic from a family session yesterday, I have a couple senior sessions to post, and soon some boudoir, so stay tuned, sorry I have been slacking on here, it has been crazy hectic (in a good way) lately
Hope everyone is having a great weekend, since it didn’t rain as much as they expected
Maternity sessions are in full swing here at the studio! And while I feel like I am earning the rep for being an ‘urban maternity’ shooting kind of gal, we decided to change it up a bit and shoot only at the studio for Christy’s session. Well, that and the fact that it was way too chilly out to go parading around all exposed and stuff.
Maternity sessions for me are starting to really become my ‘thing’ - in addition to weddings. My husband and I were talking about this today- about how to really make your mark on the world- and it got me thinking…. and I realized that making people feel beautiful is what I love to do. It applies to EVERY type of shoot I do, whether it’s weddings, or maternity or boudoir… and I came to the conclusion that these three types of shoots are exactly what that is about!
Feeling beautiful.
I walk around with a pair of extreme home makeover glasses on my eyes- meaning- just give me 10 minutes alone with you and my camera and I will show you what I see…. a beautiful person that’s either already there in full view or someone just lurking below the surface… Maybe it’s someone who never really saw themselves in that way before…maybe they have always wanted to be made to feel beautiful or sexy, but thought that no one could see that about them.
It’s like in the Wizard of Oz…when the house lands and Dorothy opens the door… and the world is in color…. I see you all in color!
OK, enough lovey dovey-ness! Without further delay…. this is what I came back with… after the house landed!
…she fit so nicely on my new couch, and so I went with it!!
my new favorite spot to photograph- the light here is all natural and simply radiant! Having a perfect pregnant lady here certainly doesn’t hurt either!
love the simplicity of this one
my son’s room came in pretty handy…. they are expecting a boy as well!
this hallway was a nice spot to rest….I was laying down
I thought I was done shooting….and Katie had one more shot she was working on….and then I saw the light in here and … well… I couldn’t stop!! She is SO beautiful!!!
LOVE this detail- and am so glad my scrabbly pocket door worked!
WHATEVER DUDE!!!! I TOLD you I couldn’t stop shooting…!
One of my favorite parts of my studio is my bathroom- the two best parts? My 72″ soaking tub and the crazy chandelier that my friend Bethany gave me!

OK- I am going to breathe a BIG sigh of relief and come out of the closet and admit: I DO FAMILY SHOOTS!!! Hah! Big confession, right? In my crazy mind, yes.
I have been asked if I do family shoots for a long time- and for a long time I said no. No, you say? Yes, I can say no to shooting, as painful as it was for me I did. The reason? I felt like people expected the ‘everyone look at the camera and say cheese’ family picture from me…which I don’t do, nor do I want to. I have to stay true to the vision I have for how I want us to photograph our families. And so? I do my thing and if it’s what you like, then give us a shout!!
So that being said I want to introduce to you something that I would love to implement at every shoot: the family favorite!
Every kid goes through their favorite phase, and it is subject to change year to year…it’s one of the things I love seeing my kids transition through and so I thought I would show my families how I see their kids’ favorite things…
Sophie loves her Gigi; Gus his DS and Alice loves her Fishy Blanket
Meet Gus and James, his bunny
Sophie was my BFF and loved hooking me up with shots throughout our session…she was soooooo much fun to photograph
and then there’s Alice, she was a force of nature!
little feet are even cuter than big feet
just sweet little girls playing in their room
getting the three of them together was a challenge I’m not gonna lie, but they did it for like 5 seconds and this is what we got!! their personalities jump out
LOVE this one, Gus is his Mom’s stunt double
This dress was Sophie’s aunt’s dress from when she was little- it is so Little House on the Prairie so you know I was loving me some Laura Ingalls Wilder attire
Gus and Mom
Little Alice and Mommy- and I totally wanna steal that outfit- it’s PINK AND BROWN PEOPLE!!
These two just had a ball playing in their jammies
See what I mean? Sophie was my GIRL!
Daddy came home and threw the pig skin around with Gus…yes I said pig skin
We ended our shoot watching the Vin Diesel classic…The Pacifier, a big family favorite! They were riveted!!
Give us a shout if you would like to schedule a family session, we would love to meet your families!!
